How to install

As we had received numerous inquiries we decided to explain the installation of entire Solar Monitor system so that every owner of domestic PV plant could install the system.

Sensors wiring

Sensors wiring has to meet high requirements concerning working lifetime and reliability. In fact it is a HBUS micro-net with an in-built power supply.

Outside we use heavy-duty PUR cable with industrial M8 connectors. To reduce the cost this cable is changed inside for multiple (6 line) phone cable with 6p6c connectors (RJ-12).

The picture shows particular components.

Substantial details of installation

Mounting pad under irradiation sensor

This pad is used to hitch the sensor to the lenghtwise or crosswise support beams of PV panel. The pad is included in each irradiation sensor package.

Fixing apertures can be predrilled to the max dimension of M8.

Irradiation sensor

Fixing to lenghtwise support beams in vertical position. There is a metal sheet pad under the mounting pad to ensure higher stability.

Connectors have to be fixed downwards to ensure optimum measurement.

PV panel temperature sensor

PV panel temperature sensor, fixed by ALU tape to the back of PV panel. ALU tape is included in the sensor package.

Electrometer connection

Production electrometer (called „green bonus electrometer“) in PV plants is installed straight after the invertor and measures total energy production. Unlike the invertor it is callibrated and provides accurate data.

Electrometer is connected to the Solar Monitor unit by pulse interface SO. You have to set the number of pulses/KWh produced in the Solar Monitor unit once you connect the electrometer. You can find the values on the electrometer.

The same for three-phase installations.
